Skull and Bones: The closed beta

Skull and Bones: Worse than Duke Nukem Forever – the neverending story continues…

Actually, Ubisoft’s Skull and Bones should have appeared “early” in the 2023-24 financial year, but as it has now turned out, the release date of the title is a little further away than previously assumed.

In January of this year, Ubisoft once again postponed the pirate game Skull and Bones. The game should now have been released “early” in fiscal year 2023-24, which began on April 1, 2023 and ended on March 31, 2024. However, by “early” Ubisoft probably didn’t mean “at the beginning”, because as the company indicates in a new financial report, the game should be released in this fiscal year, but probably not within the first quarter. So the title will be released after July 1, 2023 at the earliest.

When is Skull and Bones coming out?

“We are very pleased with the progress the team is making on the game. We are doing a lot of playtesting and research with external partners and the game is progressing well,” said Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot during an investor call.

Although Ubisoft has long been “very happy” with Skull and Bones is, somehow the game’s release date isn’t getting any closer. At least this time it’s not a real delay, after all Ubisoft didn’t give a release date or anything like that, but many users originally assumed that the game would be released within the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

We’ll definitely see more about Skull and Bones at the upcoming Ubisoft Forward Showcase, because the publisher has already confirmed that the pirate game will have an appearance. Ubisoft may also announce a new, hopefully final release date there. Additionally, the company may unveil a “big”, previously unannounced project at its showcase.
