If you want to adjust your Spotify sound with an equalizer, you have to go a different way on iOS, Android, Windows PC and macOS. We tell you how easy it is to do in each case.

Tastes are known to differ. This not only applies to the different genres, but also to the sound tuning. For example, some like a little more bass, others prefer a neutral sound pattern and there are almost an infinite number of gradations in between.

The sound can therefore be adjusted to one’s own taste on a smartphone or computer, similar to a good system. A so-called “equalizer” is used for this purpose. We’ll tell you how it works in conjunction with Spotify.

The Spotify app for iPhone and iPad has a built-in equalizer function. However, this is not exactly placed in front of the user’s nose, but is well hidden in the menu.

  1. First open the settings of the app.
  2. Then tap on the “Playback” sub-item, which is the third item in the settings.
  3. Then scroll down a bit to the “Equalizer” submenu.

You can then use the integrated Spotify equalizer to adjust the sound to your taste. There are also several predefined settings for different genres available.

Use Spotify equalizer on Android

Unlike iPhones, most Android devices already have an equalizer on board from the factory. That’s why Spotify for Android does not integrate such a feature into its app and instead relies on the on-board resources of the respective smartphone or tablet. However, the settings can still be controlled via the Spotify app.

  1. Open Settings in the Spotify app.
  2. Scroll down to “Equalizer” and tap it. Spotify then forwards you directly to the Android sound settings.
  3. On Samsung devices there is a separate item for the equalizer in the audio menu, which takes you to the final menu.

You can also set the sound on Android either manually or using predefined genres.

Third-Party Equalizer

In most cases, the manufacturer’s factory-installed equalizers offer only basic functions and little convenience. If you are looking for more features and options and also value a visually appealing user interface, you can also take a look at the numerous third-party variants:

Neither Windows nor macOS have a built-in equalizer, but both systems work more or less seamlessly with third-party software in this regard.

Windows 10 users can use, among other things, the free third-party software Equalizer APO, which is available for download from Sourceforge .

Mac owners, on the other hand, can try eqMac2. This open source software is also free and can be downloaded directly .
