DJI Mavic 3 Pro vs DJI Mavic 3 – Comparison, Differences and What’s New

DJI Mavic 3 Pro vs DJI Mavic 3 – Comparison With the new DJI Mavic 3 Pro ( click here for the test report ), DJI Innovations presented the successor to the DJI Mavic 3 in April 2023 . The functions of the new DJI Mavic 3 Pro and DJI Mavic 3 or DJI Mavic 3 Classic are largely identical in terms of flight performance, obstacle detection, video transmission or intelligent functions and hardly differ. However, due to the higher weight of the triple camera, the weight of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro clearly exceeds the 900 gram limit, resulting in a C2 classification . The battery life of the DJI Mavic 3 Pro is only 43 instead of 46 minutes due to the higher weight. In tabularComparing DJI Mavic 3 Pro vs. DJI Mavic 3, the main differences and similarities become clear. All information in the article.

How many versions are there in the DJI ‎Mavic 3 series? What are the differences?

The DJI Mavic 3 series is currently available in three versions – the DJI Mavic 3 Standard , DJI Mavic 3 Classic and the new DJI Mavic 3 Pro . The former DJI Mavic 3 and the new DJI Mavic 3 Pro are also available as cine variants . In the meantime, however, the DJI Mavic 3 Standard and DJI Mavic 3 Cine have been discontinued. The successor models, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro and DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine , were introduced in April 2023.

The DJI Mavic 3 Pro now features a triple-lens , multi-focal camera system consisting of a 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera, a new 1/1.3-inch CMOS telephoto camera , and an updated 166 -mm telephoto camera composed. The Mavic 3 Pro thus primarily offers improved imaging performance and a maximum flight time of around 43 minutes . In addition to these functions of the conventional DJI Mavic 3 Pro, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro supports Cinevarious video codecs, such as Apple ProRes 422 HQ, Apple ProRes 422 or Apple ProRes 422 LT. In addition, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine has an integrated SSD hard drive with a memory of one terabyte. The DJI Mavic 3 Classic, on the other hand, only has the 4/3 CMOS Hasselblad camera and does without additional telephoto lenses. The DJI Mavic 3 Classic achieves a maximum flight time of around 46 minutes.

Important note: Due to the different camera systems, there are also differences between the DJI Mavic 3, DJI Mavic 3 Classic and DJI Mavic 3 Pro in terms of weight and the resulting maximum flight speed . While the DJI Mavic 3 and DJI Mavic 3 Classic weigh less than 900 grams and fly no faster than 19 meters per second, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro weighs more than 900 grams and can fly at speeds of up to 21 meters per second. Therefore, the DJI Mavic 3 and DJI Mavic 3 Classic come with a C1 certification , while the DJI Mavic 3 Pro only has a C2 classificationreceives. Due to the worse off drone class, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro is not as easy to use as is the case with the DJI Mavic 3 and DJI Mavic 3 Classic. Further information, rules or specifications for the use of the various drone models can be found here:
